Adding essay questions

Assign an essay question to trainees as part of your training course. When a trainee finishes a course with an essay question, the course is not marked as completed until the essay question has been graded by the instructor. The trainee sees a message indicating that the essay grade needs to be added by the instructor. An email message is sent to the course manager indicating that an essay is ready to be graded. 

To add an essay question to your course:

  1. Click where you want to insert the essay on the main Edit Content page. Select "Add > Essay" from the menu.

  2. Enter the essay question and any details you want trainees to note. Click Add Essay.

Grading essay questions

When you assign an essay question to trainees as part of your training course, you receive an email message when an essay has been submitted for grading by a trainee. To grade the essay and enter the grade in the database, do the following:

  1. When you receive an email that an essay question is awaiting manual grading, go to the main Edit Course page. Click the "more >>" tab on the far right and select "Grading" from the menu.

    Select the more>> tab
  2. Select the essay you want to grade from the list.
    Select the essay
  3. Set the score for the essay, add comments... 
  4. And click "Add Training Record". Please note that the score cannot be changed once the training record is added.
