How do I...?

display a customized announcement to users after they login to TrainCaster?

Custom announcements are displayed when a user logs into your TrainCaster environment. The announcement can be shown only when they login, or every time they return to their home page. Announcements are set to expire automatically - just enter the date you want to stop displaying the announcement.

  1. Click the Administration tab.
  2. Click the Announcement Settings button.
  3. Enter an announcement, when users will see the announcement, and an expiration date.
  4. Click the Update Announcement button to save your changes.
create a curriculum progression?
  1. Click on the Administration tab at the top of the page.
  2. Click Manage Curriculums.
  3. Select the name of the first curriculum in this progression from the scroll list and click Modify Curriculum.
    Note: All curriculums that are to be included in this progression need to be created before you create the progression. The other curriculums can be created as non-progression curriculums.
  4. The Curriculum Progression box at the bottom of the page should indicate that curriculum progression is currently set to off. To change this select Modify.
  5. Select the On radio button in the Curriculum Progression box at the top of the page.
  6. Select the next curriculum(s) in the series from the text box on the right side of the page and click Add.
  7. Click Finished.
assign a user grouping contact?
  1. Click the Manage Users tab.
  2. Click Manage Users.
  3. Select the name of the user grouping contact from the list. Click Modify User.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Modify next to User Grouping Contact Assignments.
  5. Select the user grouping that this user is the contact for.  (one or several). Click Add Assignments.
  6. Click Finished.

Note: A Group Contact must have a user type of Administrator, Course Manager, User Manager, or Report Manager. Trainees cannot be Group Administrators. Additionally, Group Contacts can be automatically notified via email when a trainee is overdue for training or when a trainee completes a course.

Assign Multiple Users to a Curriculum

This function lets you assign trainees to classroom courses.

  1. On the User Manager screen, click 'Assign Multiple Users to a Curriculum'.
  2. Select the curriculum from the drop-down list. Click Continue.
  3. Select users from the 'Unassigned' list and click Add.
  4. When you have moved the users from unassigned to assigned, click finished.

Please note that if users are assigned courses based on User Grouping, when the User Grouping changes - so do the curriculum assignments. In that case, these changes will be overwritten with the new curriculum assignments.
